IT TOUCHES YOU IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY .
This Exhibit shows us what happens to our body through our lifestyle choices ,what affect our health and vitality and what happens when we are hit by several diseases or medical conditions.
You will feel a strong feeling of astonishment to see what’s going on under our skin , It’s impossible not to feel transported ,for example have you ever wondered what going on between your mussels while having a sexual intercourse? Or plying tennis?
Several installations, as you can see in this last picture, have been split to give you a better perception of what actually happens inside your body, there is a separation about your organs, skeleton and muscular system. My favorite installation It is in fact part of this category, a “ Jumper “ divided in four sections, the side sections represent the “container” that contains the central section, skull, lungs, stomach and intestines, while the fourth “ rear “ section it is composed from the splitting of the spine in two parts and the brain.
THE PLASTINATION PROCESS :
After a series of experiments , Dr Gunther von Hagens decided to focus his life around the process of Plastination , an unprecedented new road in the teaching of anatomy .
SIMPLE IN CONCEPT:
THE BODY DONATION PROGRAM :
DR. Gunther von Hagens founded in 1993 The IfP , a private research institute, in Heidelberg, that focuses on the development and progression of Plastination.
This program has more than 13,000 body donors , with more than 1,000 by now deceased donor bodies. To be clear , this is not a contract, but a declaration of intent. The donor should declare (during his lifetime ) that his body is not to be buried after death, but transferred to the Institute for Plastination. The Institute for Plastination also organizes regular meetings of body donors to inform the donor about the future use of his body.
This special collection called VITAL , includes whole-body plastinates, a large arrangement of individual organs, organ and arterial configurations, and translucent slices that are even more surprising than bodies .
I valued this exhibition like one the best I have ever visit , It is far too rare , to find such an interactive Expo in the field of medicine .
I suggest you to live this visit as a tour about ourselves , a voyage that made us re-evaluate our daily activities and lifestyle choices.
